This month we are moving on to reading food labels hosted by Mason Ngawhika. This webinar aims to provide the ability to interpret health claims that are on a food packet, the important nutrients to focus on, and the skills needed to make an informed choice.

The nutrients we’ll be looking at are:

1. Fat
2. Saturated Fat
3. Sodium
4. Fibre
5. Sugar

Currently language used to determine the health value of manufactured foods lack statements such as “do not” or “reduce”. However, these types of descriptions would allow the consumer to make an informed choice based on their needs and the needs of their whānau. This webinar will discuss a set of criteria that enable you to identify and become familiar with healthy ranges of nutrients in every day foods.
