A Rotorua marae has banned fizzy drinks and plastic bottles.
Māori health promotion roopu Toi Tangata says Tunohopu Marae at Ōhinemutu is setting a great example and other marae should take up the challenge.
Chief executive Megan Tunks says the marae is setting a great example for whānau and the community on how to make healthy lifestyle choices.
She says whānau and communities want healthy, sugar free environments.
The marae is promoting water as the first drink of choice, normalising healthier lifestyle choices.
