Vacancy: Pouārahi – Training and Education Manager

The Pouārahi – Training and Education Manager leads the ongoing design, development, expansion and delivery of Kaupapa Māori-centred physical activity and nutrition initiatives throughout Aotearoa. The position has specific responsibility for managing and growing ‘He Pī ka rere’, a mātauranga Māori initiative to increase movement and physical activity of tamariki in kohanga, kura, and schools. The role also contributes to the provision of operational advice for  te reo and tikanga within the organisation, and communication in te reo with Māori media.

The Pouārahi Training and Education Manager role requires some travel around Aotearoa, including monthly hui at Auckland headquarters, but the successful applicant could reasonably fulfil this role from a location outside of Tāmaki Makaurau.  The Pouārahi Training and Education Manager will facilitate and organise relevant hui and will be an advocate on issues relating to healthy Māori lifestyles as they pertain to whānau, particularly tamariki and taiohi.

The position will keep up to date with developments in the role of nutrition and physical activity on learning and development and will disseminate and exemplify best practices.  Where and as required, specialist support will be engaged to provide expert nutrition advice. It is expected that the Pouārahi Training and Educaion Manager will lead innovative new ideas and extend our reach and enhance our effectiveness of mātauranga Māori approaches in the fields of education, physical activity and sport. The role will also have responsibility for relationship development with some key organisations. Some experience in teaching and/or coaching would be an advantage.

Applications close on 18th October 5pm
