Toi Ako Webinar: Crystal Pekepo

Maara jamz: Mai te kakano ki te puawaitanga- The Pekepo-Ratu blueprint to mana motuhake in the home is the essence of this Toi Ako webinar.

The Pekepo-Ratu whānau are not shy of mucking in and getting it done and are honest about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to turning raw determination into outcomes.

Guided by the maramataka, their goal was mana motuhake in the home. They started their whanau maara journey at the beginning of lockdown, capturing everything from the planning and the whanau effort to reaping their harvest.

Crystal and Tautoko Ratu want to share their story about how their commitment to food security starts in their own home.

Of Ngāti Vara/Ngāti Ka’ukura and Ngāti Kahungunu descent, Crystal is a wife and mother of five tamariki who lives in a semi rural town called Waipawa. Working out of Central Hawke’s Bay her passion lies with working with whanau to help them realise their true potential. Crystal, like her ancestors is a pōkai whenua who loves to engage with whanau from all walks of life and empower them through creating meaningful kaupapa that reflects their environment. She also loves to explore tangible approaches to kaupapa Māori for her whānau.

So join us as we hear how Crystal and her whanau utilised their skills and knowledge to take charge of their mana motuhake and what mātauranga Māori, mahi tahi and manaakitanga can achieve!
