He Pouārahi hōu ki Toi Tangata

We have recently welcomed Ranginui Rikirangi-Thomas (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Ranginui) to the Toi Tangata whanau. Ranginui will be leading He Pī Ka Rere, our national kaupapa Māori physical activity and nutrition programme for tamariki in early learning environments. He will spearhead He Pī Ka Rere alongside Pianika Ormsby and the Toi Tangata team.

Ranginui is a former secondary school teacher of te reo, health and physical activity. He’s also a graduate of the former Institute of Excellence in the Māori Language, Te Panekiretanga. His skills, knowledge and experience coupled with leadership capabilities make him a wonderful asset to have in the team.

Ranginui replaces outgoing Pouārahi, Darrio Penetito-Hemara (Waikato, Ngāpuhi).  Darrio is the founder of He Pī Ka Rere who has recently taken up a new position as Lead Māori Strategist for Healthy Families Waitakere.

We are looking forward to working with Ranginui and wish him all the best in his time with our Toi team.

Tēnā, kia waiho mai tētahi punua whakataukī hei taupoki ake i aku kōrero i konei;

“Te tātarakihi, te pihareinga; ko ngā manu ēnā o Rehua”

Kia haumaru, kia ngahau te kitā, nau mai e ngā hua o te waru.

Nāku iti nei,

Ranginui Rikirangi-Thomas
